Giving as an Expression of Stewardship

“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (Peter 4:10)

As members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, we are stewards of our faith, our church, and each other. In giving our time, talent and treasure, we are expressing our stewardship as a life of accountability and responsibility, acknowledging God as Creator and Owner of all.

Stewards as disciples of Jesus Christ see themselves as caretakers of all God’s gifts. We express our gratitude for these gifts through prayer, worship, and offering what we believe we have to give back. Stewardship is a way of life, a way of thanking God for all His blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent and treasure allotted to us.

The vitality of our parish depends not only on the many hours of volunteer time given by parish members to help each other and those in need in our community, but also on the financial gifts we are able to share for the well-being of our places of worship and the people who work for the Parish at St. John’s. The buildings in which we work and worship must be kept in good condition. Our hard-working staff, who answer our calls for assistance and help to administer parish daily business, must receive salaries and health benefits. We must pay for heating, water, supplies, and maintenance. All these things cost money. Weekly collections comprise the majority of funds used for our Parish to function, but if we are to continue expanding services to meet the needs of our growing Parish, we will need to work together and plan ahead to ensure we can provide what our Parish needs, now and in the future.

There are many ways to give your gifts of treasure, including weekly Mass offerings, and church fund-raising events. Additional giving envelopes are always available in the Church and in our administrative offices. You can make donations to individual ministries (see our Ministries page for options), or simply make a gift to the Church.
