Greeters / Ushers

The ministry of hospitality is a biblical value, originating in the ancient Semitic ethic of ‘welcoming the stranger’. Greeters act as a host to the person of Christ, inviting the people of God to share in the Eucharist. Newcomers, visitors, and parishioners are welcomed and made to feel at home. Greeters are persons of faith who see Jesus present and alive in the gathering community. Greeters are not afraid to step forward, shake hands, and welcome all with a 'Good Morning'.
The attitude of hospitality spreads from the minister and creates a welcoming presence of joy and gratitude that rubs off on all who enter into the celebration. They assist people in finding seats, take up the Sunday offering, direct people during the reception of the Eucharist, and help with any problems that might arise. Greeters are primarily called to welcome both friends and guests at Sunday liturgy. This ministry greatly influences the atmosphere of Sunday worship. A sincere, helpful attitude and a warm, friendly smile are required. We particularly encourage and invite families to become Ministers of Hospitality.
